The State Fair 2010

Well, we made our annual trek to the Great State Fair of Oklahoma last Friday. 365 days seems like just the amount of time needed to recharge your batteries for this interesting trip. What draws us there? Is it the:

  • Somewhat interesting to somewhat disgusting food

  • Sweet smell of garbage

  • Interesting people to watch

  • Bright lights

  • Animals

  • The fact that the kids seem to love it not matter what

  • That it's a reason to get out of the house.

It's probably a combination of all of the above. Anyways, here's a look at our evening.

The Food
Note to self:

Before ordering another deep fried cheeseburger make sure that they don't deep fry it in:

The Agriculture Building
If nothing else, we alway make our way here. It's probably the most kid friendly thing to do at the fair. The kids love it.

Looking at goats

Planting crops

Harvesting the fruit

Collecting the chicken eggs

Getting paid - "We aren't doing this for free"

We decided to adopt this boy

The Midway

Bright lights and fun people to watch. Guess my weight for $5 so I can win a $0.50 prize? Sounds like a can't lose proposition.

Horrible mother that doesn't let her baby breathe. Oh wait that's our mommy, and oh wait, babies can breath through their nose too.

Daddy takes his shirt off

Mommy getting us more money

It's Time
Do these people know what time it is?

Does he know what time it is? Of course he does. It's Hammer time!

Random Stuff

Pony Ride. My ponies name is Cocoa.

Madeline joins Al Queda

Llama's have been known to spit on you.

First Day of School!

Madeline had her first day of Pre-K today! (sniff, sniff) She has been counting down the days with a sticker game that her teacher, Mrs. Nelson, gave her and today was the day! She looked so pretty in the cute purple skirt and white shirt with pink & purple with sparkle hearts on it that her grandma & grandpa got her and to complete the outfit her "Glizty Petz" shoes that Nana & Papa got her that are sparkley also. The kids lined up where they will every day and the parents waited inside the room then the kids came in and put their bags in their cubbys.
Then Mrs. Nelson read a book about a raccoon who went to school for the first time and was afraid that he'd miss his mom so she kissed his had and every time he looked at his hand he remembered his mom loves him....sniff, sniff. I looked over at my friend Esther and see that she is crying and her husband is giving her a Kleenex, she leans over to me and says, "it doesn't help that I'm pregnant."
Then when the story was over all of us parent put heart shaped stickers on our kids hands that Ms. Labus had given us during us during the story. I hugged her and we kissed and did nose kisses and I told her how much fun she was going to have learning and that I wanted to hear all about it when I picked her up. (sigh)
She got in the car after school and said "I LOVE SCHOOL!!!! IT'S THE BEST THING EVER!!!!"

Cookies?

We have a tradition of making cookies and watching a movie when it's raining out. The girls have come to love this tradition and if it's raining when they wake-up they say, "Yeah, cookie day!"
As you know it rained a LOT yesterday and I was watching the news to see if it was going to rain today, which was also Madeline's first day of Zoo Camp. When the weatherman said it would rain through Tuesday morning she turned to me and said, "Does the zoo make cookies?" So cute!

Grace says.....

Aunt Debbie sent the girls leotards (Madeline is starting dance class this August and is very excited about it!). So Grace comes running down the hallway in her leotard and says, "See my Re-a-tard!" yup, re-a-tard! She's so darn cute!

Then I just threw in the one of Ephraim with his little cousin Rylon (Mike, my brother & Kristen's son; he was born May 1st.)

ahhhh

Grace thinks Abe does ....anytime she can't find anything or needs to blame something on someone Mommy is happy that Grace choses to blame Daddy instead of Mommy! She'll go up to him and say her complaint then when he says that it wasn't him that did it she'll say "Jew, Did It!" *meaning "you" did it! Very cute to hear!

New House

Some of our friends are moving (the girls play with their kids) and I was showing Madeline pictures on line of their new house (that's completely empty) and showing her who's bedroom is who's and we go through all the pics (25 of them) and she responds with "It's sooo pretty; but where are all the toys?" She was very concerned that her friends weren't going to have any of their toys to play with.

Abe

So Abe and I are in Ephraim's room the other day, with Ephraim and Abe is on the floor. Grace comes in and puts her little hand on Abe's shoulder and pats him gently and says, "Abe, can I have a vitamin?" "Abe"....she calls him Abe sometimes.....we think it's kinda funny. He'll give her something and she'll respond "thanks Abe".....hahah....cute~

Here....Catch

ahhhhh Gracie, she likes to throw everything to us, she'll say "Here, catch!" and throw whatever it is at you. It's crazy sometime b/c she doesn't give you time to see what she's throwing it before she's already thrown it.
So yesterday while Abe was emptying the dishwasher Grace was helping and she usually puts away the utensils and he hears her say "oh knife, here, catch!" and throws a steak knife at him. You can guess his response to having a knife thrown at him...she didn't bat an eye though.

High Achiever

Madeline has her 4yr. old check-up this week and my friends who go to the same pediatrician have told me that at the 4yr. old check-up she wants them to know their phone number, address, and how to spell their name. So I've been working with Madeline on all of those things.

Well since she's a first born and a high achiever she keeps asking me to "ask me questions" like "what's your address, phone number and how do you spell your name." I have to ask them in different voices and she answers them very seriously too!

Long, Long Time Ago

I used to write in this blog and tell you of the fun, cute and crazy things the girls were doing. Well now we have a boy to talk about....but you don't know that b/c I haven't blogged about it yet. His name is Ephraim Abram Newton and sooooo stinkin' cute!~
Maybe I'll do better with keeping you up to date?????

Silence Never a Good Sign

So I'm on face book trying to make plans with a friend that I haven't seen since December and there's not a peep coming from either child. Note: silence from kids is NEVER a good sign! I find Madeline with her mattress pulled off of her box springs and she's made a fort with the mattress part. Then I find Grace, sitting on the floor with the dog food container in between her legs and she's eating dog food! Gross, yuk, make me gag!!!!!!

Gampa!

"Gampa!" is one of Gracie's favorite people! I love that I can say "do you want to go see Grandma & Grandpa?" and she lights up and says "yeah!" and goes and gets her shoes! Then when we pull up in the driveway she starts this squeal/scream of excitement!
Madeline "had to call Grandpa" the other day. So she pushes all the right buttons on the phone and waits while it rings and then who answers on the other line? Grandma! She then pulls the phone away from her ear and says "it's just Grandma". She proceeds to talk to 'just Grandma' and then asks for Grandpa! silly girl!

I hooold eww

"I hooold ewww" is all I heard last week from the little on who was attached to my legs. But even then she was cute!

Intruder

At one in the morning there I slept with a little blond intruder in our bedroom saying, "Mommy can I snuggle with you?" How can I say no to that? So she "snuggled" with us until I had my fair share of kicks to the belly & slaps in the face, which came around 4 am and that's when Daddy finally realized she was in bed with us. She was mad b/c I told her she needed to go back to her bed. I know there will be a time when she doesn't want to snuggle with us anymore so I really couldn't say no, now could I!

Madeline Says:

On her way to sleep (actually she was just stalling), Madeline says "I berry much love you Mommy!" and gives me a big hug & kiss....how cute!
Grace is such a crack-up now, while eating a pasta dish for dinner tonight I looked over at her and there was food & spit sliding down her chin and onto her neck. Then I realized what she was doing, she was spitting everything in her mouth out except for the pasta....gross!

My Massage

Grace being one of the sweetest daughters in the world decided to give Mommy a massage yesterday b/c I had a migraine all day and was miserable. Anyways, I was laying on the couch (on my back) and she came over to me with the back-roller massage thing and pulled my shirt up and said, "baby" and pointed to my belly. I said, "yes" and then she proceeded to take the back roller and roll it over my belly. She's so sweet. She's also cutting FOUR teeth right now....not so great!
Madeline is three years old for sure, no doubt...there's something about a three year old that tests your every patience. My friends & mother-in-law always said three was worse than two and I guess you don't believe it until you have a three year old. All I can say is "Is she four yet!" One day at a time...

So Long

It's been ages, I know, since I've written....it's been a little crazy around here! We are officially 12 weeks pregnant! Yesterday, the girls came up to my doctors appointment, by way of Daddy! Madeline was so excited when Dr. Hager asked her if she wanted to help her listen to the baby. Of course she did! So Dr. Hager held her and Madeline held the Doppler on my belly! She loved it!

ABC...AEEEEEUU

Now the new and best thing for the girls to do here at home is to both stand on their "stage with a light" (Madeline calls our fireplace that) and for them both to sing. Any and no song in general but lately Grace has been trying to sing the ABC's but it's more like AEEEEUUUEEE when she sings it. They both get up there and "sing" as loud as they can and it really funny!

Ring-Around-the-What

I was telling Madeline that tomorrow we have to get our tires on the car rotated for our trip, then I explained to her what that meant. And as I was putting her to bed she said, "Will the guys sing 'Ring-Around-the-Rosie' when they move all the tires around?" Too cute.
Grace's personality is really coming out now, well at least when she's mad at her sister for taking something away or not sharing. Yesterday, she wanted something Madeline had and she wasn't getting it and she bent over at the hips and yelled at Madeline right by her head. I had to laugh, it was funny!

Easter!

On Easter morning Madeline jumped in bed with us and we were cuddling and talking about Easter. I asked her why we celebrated Easter and she said, "Because God sent Jesus for us and he hides eggs for us!" She said it very mater-a-factly...too cute~
