Breathing Treatments
As you all know we live at the pediatricians, not so bad considering our deductible is paid however; starting on Thursday I won't be too happy about living at the doctors. The girls went back today for a re-check, a week ago Madeline was diagnosed with pneumonia and Grace has mucus in her lungs and is sick also. So that's the day we started giving them both breathing treatments every 3 hours, alternating the medicine that went into the treatment. They also were given 10 days worth of antibiotics, (yes, the day before that Grace had just gotten off her last round of antibiotics) and they were both given a few days worth of steroids to help them breathe. It took all my will power not to break-down and cry in Walgreen's when the pharmacist took both his hands and moved all the medicine towards me and then he got a big sack to put it all in. (I think he saw the tears in my eyes and the feeling of being overwhelmed with all of the stuff he was giving me and he stated, "This is a lot for one visit for any person.") On a good note: we seem to have the breathing treatments down now, we've come along way from the first one that Madeline was given in the doctors office and it took 3 adults to hold her and give the treatment to her. Now she can proudly give herself the treatment. Grace still hates it, but she's easier to hold. Like I was saying, today was their re-check, I was thinking Madeline was much better, Grace not-so-much. Come to find out neither child is better, so you know what comes next: more medicines! Now they both get another medicine added to their breathing treatments twice a day (a steroid) and Grace gets a new antibiotic, Madeline gets to add Musinex to her drug list....and now I think my children are "super-Biotic" b/c of all the antibiotics and steroids they have taken. I think Grace alone has been on antibiotics for over a month now....til next time.
